LWM Group Privacy Policy & Collection Statement
YOUR PRIVACY IS IMPORTANT TO US
LWM Group is bound by the Privacy Act and the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) and has created this Privacy Policy and Collection Statement (together referred to as "this Privacy Policy") in order to demonstrate its firm commitment to privacy.
LWM Group will update this Privacy Policy as required. If it is changed, the changes will be posted on LWM Group's website at www.lwm.com.au so that you are always aware of the sort of information collected, how the information may be used, and under what circumstances it may be disclosed by LWM Group.
Please note that if at any time LWM Group is required by law to release information about you or your organisation, LWM Group must cooperate fully. This Privacy Policy does not apply to acts or practices of LWM Group that are directly related to employee records of current or former employees.
WHAT SORT OF INFORMATION DOES LWM GROUP COLLECT?
LWM Group collects information about you ("the Information") when you engage the organisation so that LWM Group may provide you with accounting, tax, audit and consulting services. In addition, LWM Group may collect information from financial planning, legal or other specialist advisers that you have appointed. This Information includes financial details, including tax file numbers.
COLLECTION AND USE
LWM Group collects the Information from records that you provide by post, email, delivery, in meetings, over the phone or through our website. LWM Group uses the Information to provide you with a specific service, for example, to complete your annual tax return, your statutory financial statements or provide you with consulting advice. If you do not provide full and complete Information that we request we may be unable to provide our services effectively and accurately.
LWM Group also uses the Information to send you information (either by e-mail or post) that you request. If at any time you receive material that you did not request or do not want to receive such material any more, then you can advise LWM Group by any of the means under the heading “Access and Correction” listed below.
LWM Group endeavours to ensure at all times Information collected from you is complete, accurate and up to date. We do this by updating our electronic and other records with changes to your Information that you advise.
DISCLOSURE
LWM Group will only pass your Information to financial planning, legal or other specialist advisers that you have appointed, with your consent. We will only disclose Information to government agencies, eg Australian Taxation Office where required by law. We may disclose your information to a related organisation being LWM Consulting Pty Ltd.
SECURITY
LWM Group has security measures designed to protect against the loss, misuse and/or alteration of the Information under its control. These security measures are :
(i) secure document destruction. Information held by LWM Group is destroyed in accordance with time limits set in corporations and taxation legislation. Currently this means any records more than 7 years old are destroyed, except where the Information is of a nature that requires us to retain it for longer for example in relation to capital gains tax matters.
(ii) requiring passwords for access to our computer network by our staff
(iii) firewalls and anti-virus software on our computer network
(iv) clauses in our employee agreements requiring confidentiality
(v) restricted access to our secure office.
SENDING INFORMATION OVERSEAS
LWM Group may transfer your Information to you overseas if you request this and provide accurate contact details. Similarly we will only transfer your Information to a third party overseas with your consent.
ACCESS AND CORRECTION
LWM Group gives you the following options for accessing and modifying Information previously provided by you to LWM Group :
(a) You may gain access to Information that LWM Group has collected about you, by contacting the person named below. We will not charge you for responding to such a request, unless we incur costs in providing the information.
(b) Alternatively you can e-mail via our website mail@lwm.com.au to notify necessary corrections/updates to your Information.
